Get Involved With British Flowers Week

British Flowers Week (1000px * 530px)Now in its third year, British Flowers Week (15-19 June) is a national celebration of seasonal, locally-grown flowers and foliage. It is the brainchild of the team at New Covent Garden Flower Market,  and brings together a series of local events and a nationwide social media campaign (i.e. Twitter hashtag #britishflowersweek) to highlight the UK cut flower industry.

We’re keen for flower growers and florists across Wales to showcase the ‘Welsh’ in British Flowers Week, and would urge you to capitalise on this major event – it’s a great way to raise the profile of the industry and individual businesses across Wales.

So what can you do to join in?

  • Make the most of the ‘Florist Toolkit’ and other handy downloadable resources on the British Flowers Week website, such as the campaign’s official logo
  • Join forces with other local growers and florists to stage a special event highlighting your flowers
  • Design a ‘limited edition’ bouquet especially for the week and promote it on your website, on social media, and through the local media
  • Stage special talks in your community to promote locally-grown flowers.

We’ll use this page to highlight any special events that are being staged in Wales to tie-in with the week’s celebrations, so let us know the date, time, and venue and we’ll help spread the word here and on our Twitter account.

Horticulture Wales also has available a new range of professionally-designed marketing materials which can help you promote your flower business and Welsh-grown produce, not just for British Flowers Week, but in general too:

  • Greetings cards
  • Posters
  • Vinyl banners that can be used at indoor and outdoor events.

We have limited numbers of all these materials available for FREE. Our supplies are limited though and available on a first come, first served basis so don’t miss out!

Let us know what you’re doing to showcase the ‘Welsh’ in British Flowers Week!

Here are some growers and florists in Wales that are set to participate during British Flowers Week:

  • Far Hill Flowers, Chepstow, Monmouthshire ‘Lonely bouquet’-style giveaway, ‘Deck my Dogs in Flowers’ contest, sending sample flowers to local businesses, and special flowers for sale at Humble by Nature farmshop
